If you leave your drink unattended and suspect it may be spiked, then use our drink spiking test.
BE SAFE – CARRY CYD®
Dab your finger, straw or stirrer in to the drink.
Put a drop on to each of the test patches on the strip.
If the pink patch turns blue, or the yellow patch turns orange then your drink has been compromised.
You’re probably only one friend removed from somebody who has had their drink spiked.
Every year, worldwide, thousands of people are thought to be victims of drink spiking.
So-called date rape drugs are used to spike a drink before a sexual assault.
Common date rape drugs are GHB (gammahydroxybutrate) and Ketamine.
If the drink contains GHB the pink patch turns blue, and if the drink contains Ketamine the yellow patch turns orange.
For peace of mind and your safety a test that takes just seconds is a must-do if you’ve left your drink unattended.
Both the GHB test and the Ketamine test have been developed and validated for the detection of these drugs by UK universities UCL and Strathclyde.
Each test has been tested against a large range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to check for false positives. More on the history of CYD.
According to a YouGov survey taken in November 2021: 1 in 9 women say they have been a victim of drink spiking. In total a third of women have either been spiked themselves or know someone who has.
